" We’re trying so hard to avoid our parents’ mistakes in marriage, but we don’t have a roadmap to do it better. "
" Sometimes we just feel like roommates. The intimacy and closeness we’ve had has taken a backseat to work and parenting."
" We aren’t in crisis, but I wouldn’t say we’re thriving, either. "
" When we’re both running on empty, how do we survive the wilderness together? ”
As a relationship coach, I teach couples how to get out of survival mode
and build a rock-solid partnership that can stand the test of time.
I'm passionate about helping people succeed in marriage because honestly, the first couple years of marriage nearly killed me.
My husband and I got married right out of college and our first few years were HARD. We were broke, depressed, living in a dark, moldy apartment, and living too far from friends.
We were DESPERATE for mentors to help us learn how to be good spouses to each other, but had none.
So we struggled. I developed mysterious health problems that wouldn't go away. It took years to heal.
At that same time, I was (ironically) studying to become a marriage and family therapist, while struggling to figure out married life for myself. Through my studies, and working with couples in my practice, I realized that:
We're not taught how to regulate our emotions in order to navigate conflict productively, and we think our spouse is the problem
We don't know when (or how) we should raise an issue and when we should just let it go
Most of us are just trying to do the opposite of what our parents did, with varying degrees of success 😬
The partnership you long for is waiting.
Part 1: Reframe
Learn what’s fair to expect of each other, decode the true meaning of conflict, and master your own emotions so you can stay connected even in the tough moments.
Part 2: Repair
Resolve old issues without defensiveness or resentment, rebuild emotional trust, and chart a confident course for better communication.
Part 3: Reconnect
Learn to give and receive the affection and reassurance you both crave, and rally around a unifying sense of purpose for your life together.
